These Gold Coast newborns may have their own cribs
now, but come 2027 babies could struggle to find a home to grow up in, according to a report released yesterday.
The Australia on the Move report, which projects the country's population growth up to 2027, has put the Gold Coast at number 4 on its list of the top 20 biggest growth areas.
The report, by The Residential Development Council in conjunction with Matusik Property Insights, also says our population is expected to increase by 54 per cent over the next 18 years.   more....

State set to fast-track Coomera Town Centre

The Gold Coast's super city is set to explode after years of ticking away like a time bomb.
Under a new State Government reform, plans to build the Coomera Town Centre, which will create 10,500 homes and 20,000 jobs and the Gold Coast's largest shopping quarter, have been doused with rocket fuel and the development could now be completed within four years.        more....

Myer readies for Coomera boom

Department store Myer has staked a claim on the proposed $1 billion Coomera Town Centre, announcing plans to target the city's booming north for its third Gold Coast store. But the news is unlikely to speed up development of the long-stalled town centre which has been waiting almost a year for fast-tracking by the State Government after it signed off on the city council's master plan in January.    more....

New hospital one step closer

THE Gold Coast University Hospital is a step closer to reality with the government naming Bovis Lend Lease as managing contractors for stage two of the $1.76 billion facility.
Bovis became involved in the project in 2007 as building consultants and were managing contractors for stage one which included earthworks.With the site now prepared, stage two is the construction of the 750-bed hospital which is expected to be completed in 2012.    more....
